LHC issues arrest warrants for two Lesco officers
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Monday issued bailable arrest warrants of Chief Executive and Director Customer Services of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) after they failed to appear before the court in a contempt petition.

Justice Muhammad Khalid Muhammad Khan passed the orders on a petition filed by Model Town Society.

The society through his petition submitted that the government withdrew the notification of electricity tariff increase after the Supreme Court took suo motu notice of it.

Later, the NEPRA issued revised tariff, which was implementable from October 10, 2013,it said.

But despite it, the Lesco had issued a bill to society and charged Rs18 per unit from month of August, the society added.

The society contended that the step amount to contempt of court and pleaded to initiate contempt proceedings against respondents.

The court had summoned the two officials for Monday to explain their position but they failed to appear. The court took strict notice of it and issued their bailable arrest warrants besides adjourning the matter to November 6. (APP)
