Roseanne Barr opened up about her health struggles, admitting she has been diagnosed with a “damaged” heart and confessing her fear that surgery could end her life.
The 73-year-old revealed that her doctor advised her to undergo heart checks before pursuing cosmetic surgery, ‘ponytail facelift’.
“This doctor says I have to go get my heart checked out because it’s damaged,” she explained on The Roseanne Barr Podcast.
Frustrated, she added, “…why do I have to go find something wrong when nothing’s wrong and then get in shape just so I can have surgery and die on the surgery table?”
The actress emphasized she would rather avoid surgery altogether.
“I would rather not get ready for any sort of surgery ever again in my life and just, you know, get a heart attack or a stroke and then just be put into… hospice,” she said.
For the unversed, Barr’s legacy remains complicated.
Her groundbreaking sitcom Roseanne made her a household name, but her career was derailed in 2018 after a racist tweet about Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett led ABC to cancel the revival of her show.
The network instead launched The Conners without her.
Barr has since said she does not keep in touch with her former co-stars, describing the fallout as “a horrendous ending” but insisting she has moved on.
