Govt allocates Rs46bn for HEC under PSDP plan

ISLAMABAD: The federal government allocated 46 billion for the Higher Education Commission (HEC)'s project under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2026-27, according to official PSDP documents.

The allocation covers a wide range of initiatives, including academic and research linkages with different countries/agencies under bilateral agreements, academic collaboration under the CPEC consortium of universities, the establishment of institutes and hostels, initiatives under the Prime Minister Youth Program, and others.

These initiatives further strengthen not only the education infrastructure but also enhance the opportunities for local students to study abroad.

Meanwhile, the government has earmarked more than Rs 36.3 billion for ongoing development projects under the Federal Education and Professional Training Division.

The allocation covers a wide range of initiatives, including the establishment of Daanish schools, expansion of educational infrastructure, teacher training programmes, information technology projects, efforts to improve access to quality education across the country and the Prime Minister's Youth Programme.
