Mustafa Azizabadi made in-charge of MQM Rabita Committee

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday appointed Mustafa Azizabadi as in-charge of the party’s Rabita (Coordination) Committee, removing former in-charges Qamar Mansoor and Arshad Hussain from the key position.

The decision was announced in an official statement following a joint meeting of the party’s London and Karachi Coordination Committees conducted to restructure the party setup.

The statement said the committees had also decided that Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Dr Nusrat Shaukat and Amir Khan would be joint in-charges of the key committee that handles party affairs and all internal coordination.

“Former In-charges Qamar Mansoor and Arshad Hussain would continue to work as members of Coordination Committee,” said the statement.

Senior MQM members Kanwar Naveed Jameel and Abdul Haseeb were also included as members of the committee.

“The Chief of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has endorsed the decisions of the MQM Coordination Committee,” said the statement.

Sources had earlier told Geo that the new in-charge of the coordination committee will also be authorized to make official party decisions.

Sources also said that changes were also expected in the MQM's unit, sector and Zonal committees, but there was no official word as yet from the party regarding such changes.
