Police arrest 111 100 POs in 11 months

LAHORE: Punjab Police arrested 111 100 proclaimed offenders (POs) involved in heinous crimes in last eleven months of this year.

According to a report, police had arrested 97 240 proclaimed offenders in 2012 during the same period.

Police recovered 666 stolen cars and 5 797 motorcycles from the possession of criminals and handed over to their owners.

About 2 475 cases of dacoity were registered during 2013 in which property worth Rs 3495.58 million were stolen.

The police recovered stolen property of Rs 332.02 million in these cases. The police recovered 1 281 Kg heroin 391 Kg opium 15 714 Kg hashish 536 503 bottles of liquor and 4 668 tablets of morphine during the year of 2013.

Likewise police registered 41 891 cases against illegal weapon holders and arrested 41 867 persons involved in these cases.

Police also recovered 957 Kalashnikovs 3 034 rifles 28 129 pistols revolvers 6 008 guns and 85 grenades from their possession.

Police claimed that incidents of abduction for ransom had decreased from 143 to 121 as compare to last year.
