'Jeopardy!' winner Courtney Shah breathes her last at 52

Known as Jeopardy! winner, Courtney Shah has passed away at the age of 52.

The dedicated history professor, who went on to compete in the famous television quiz game show’s Tournament of Champions, breathed her last on Tuesday, July 21.

The seven-time Jeopardy! victor died following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Her daughter, Maya, announced via CaringBridge that her mother passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home.

For the unversed, Shah debuted on Jeopardy! in June 2021 during Dr. Sanjay Gupta's guest-hosting stint, winning seven consecutive games.

She accumulated $118,558 during her initial run, plus $2,000 for her second-place finish in her eighth game.

The next year, she was a contestant in its Tournament of Champions, where she made it to the quarterfinals before being eliminated.

Notably, Shah was diagnosed with brain cancer in February. In March, she made the clear-eyed decision to transition to home hospice care after learning that the cancer was not responding to chemotherapy and radiation.

Additionally, a service celebrating Shah’s life will be held August 10, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Rose Center for the Arts on the college’s campus.
