Chris Evans is once again at the center of Marvel fan discussions but not because of his Marvel comeback.
A brief clip from a backstage Marvel Studios' segment during the Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 went viral online.
The snippet shows a more intimate seated group setting with Robert Downey Jr., Hayley Atwell, Pedro Pascal, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, David Harbour, Paul Rudd and the Gifted star with a gloomy expression.
The roughly 20-second video shows Evans, 45, looking down while being sitting as RDJ and Pascal were engaged in an enthusiastic conversation.
Although there is no indication from the Materialist actor himself that anything was wrong, the clip quickly gained traction on social media, where fans offered their own interpretations.
Some believed the moment reflected nostalgia for Marvel's earlier days and the original Avengers cast.
"Maybe he's missing the old cast and especially Scarlett, and in fact it might be his last time near some of the MCU's main cast," one fan speculated.
Another echoed the sentiment, writing, "It must be that, he and all of us want Scarlett."
Others focused on Evans' longtime friendship with the Iron Man star joking that the Captain America actor wanted to spend more time beside his fellow Marvel veteran.
"It's just that he wanted to stay glued to RDJ and couldn't," one fan quipped.
Another joked, "I think he's jealous of Pedro with RDJ."
Several viewers also suggested the reunion-like atmosphere may have reminded Evans of the Infinity Saga era.
"It seems out of place, doesn't it? Maybe missing the old team," one comment read, while another added, "He was having a déjà vu with his little friends and got all sad."
One fan summed up the nostalgic mood by writing, "Yeah, poor guy, remembering the era of Infinity War."
The Hall H presentation marked one of Marvel Studios' biggest Comic-Con showcases in recent years, reuniting several familiar faces while unveiling fresh updates on Avengers: Doomsday and other upcoming MCU projects.
