Adam Peaty snubs estranged mother in emotional commonwealth speech

Adam Ramsay-Peaty appeared to snub his estranged family during his speech after missing out on gold in the 100m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games.

The three-time Olympic swimming champion, who used his full name, Adam Ramsay-Peaty, for the first time at a major championship, gave an honest interview in which he admitted that his fallout with his family 'has taken its toll.'

At one point, the swimmer was asked who he turned to for support as he worked to bounce back from his 100m race.

Rather than mentioning any of his family members, the athlete praised his wife, Holly, who is pregnant with her first child.

It has also been reported that Adam's mother, Caroline, told the DailyMail that she was deeply hurt after being unable to watch her son compete in Glasgow.

'It was a lot of people I talk to, obviously my wife, my coach, my best mate Ed. You've got your friends, your teammates.

'The best way to get everything out in my head, is to just write it out, I write down what is going wrong, what is going right, what can I change, what can't I change and then I've got a battle plan.

'I can go ''right I can do with this',' take it into tomorrow. So even now I'm thinking, what's part of that battle plan.'

Despite missing gout on the gold medal, the 31-year-old still showed his appreciation for his supporters by stopping to take selfies with fans. 

He also received a warm reception in Glasgow, unlike anything he had experienced before.
