Ben Affleck's next Netflix 'Animals' just got a major update

Ben Affleck is getting ready to return to Netflix with a new thriller as this time he is taking on more than one role.

Along with starring in Animals, he is also directing and helping write the film, making it one of his biggest projects in recent years.

The upcoming movie came from Artists Equity, the production company Affleck founded with longtime friend Matt Damon.

After the strong response to The Rip, the team is hoping to deliver another hit for Netflix audiences.

The road to Animals was not a smooth one as the project was first announced in 2024 but was delayed because Affleck was busy filming The Accountant 2.

During that time, Damon, who was originally set to play the lead role, had to leave because of his work on Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

Affleck later stepped in to play the lead himself.

The film, however, follows Los Angeles mayoral candidate Milo Bradford and his wife after their son gets kidnapped.

As they race to collect the ransom money, they are pulled into a dangerous world filled with secrets, lies and shocking discoveries that threaten to destroy their family.

Gillian Anderson stars as Milo's wife, while Kerry Washington plays the couple's campaign manager.

The script, moreover, is written by Ben Affleck, Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray.
