Kelly Ripa misses 'Live!' after gum graft surgery, Mark Consuelos reveals

Kelly Ripa was absent from Monday's Live! With Kelly and Mark after undergoing gum graft surgery, according to her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos, who told viewers she's now recovering at home. 

"Kelly sends her love. Kelly had a little bit, well, not a little, she had gum graft surgery," Consuelos said at the top of the show. 

The procedure involves transferring tissue from the roof of the mouth to areas where the gums have receded. 

Consuelos revealed that Ripa's doctor first recommended the surgery five years ago, a timeline she once joked about, saying at the time she didn't expect to still be on air five years later. 

Jonas Brothers member Kevin Jonas filled in as co-host on Monday and is set to return Tuesday as Ripa continues to recover under doctor's orders not to speak.
