Royal family's ancient tradition brings Meghan, Kate ‘on the same page'

Princess Kate and Meghan Markle may not be on good terms at this point in time, but as daughters-in-law of King Charles, the two women were given the same warning when they joined the royal family.

The royals have some strict protocols and some revered traditions that have been carried on for generations. Hence, becoming a part of the royal family as an outsider appears to be a daunting task. Before Catherine and Meghan went through that phase ahead of their marriages to the princes, Princess Diana dealt with the challenges.

One warning that they received was that they have “married into the wrong family”, according to royal author Simon Vigar.

The author, who has covered the British monarchy for nearly three decades, revealed that there is one key reason Camilla had a smooth integration into the family despite what was being said about her.

“Camilla is keener on horses, which is an advantage when hanging out with the Windsors,” he told GB News.

“I forgot to put this anecdote in, but early on somebody at a polo match found Catherine all on her own in a marquee somewhere, or hiding around the back, and she said that she wasn’t that into horses,” the author said about his new book.

“The person said, ‘Boy, are you marrying into the wrong family?’ That would have been the time we’re talking about after university, early 2000s or mid-noughties.”
