Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck's unexpected life chapter has fans talking

Hollywood’s most talked-about romance may be over, but Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are not closing the book on each other.

Nearly two years after ending their second shot at happily ever after, the former couple have reportedly traded wedding vows for something far less dramatic–a genuine friendship.

Insiders told Closer magazine, they are now getting along better than they did during the final stretch of their marriage, thanks in part to the close bond their blended families continue to share.

The shift comes after a relationship that spanned more than two decades, from their early 2000s engagement to their surprise reunion, whirlwind wedding and eventual split.

While many fans still wonder if a third act could ever happen, those close to the pair reportedly believe they are exactly where they should be.

Ben has never hidden his admiration for Lopez, famously calling her “the hardest-working person I’ve come across in this business.”

Even after their divorce, he praised her publicly, saying, “Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids,” adding, “I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity, who I adore and am grateful to.”

Friends say their biggest obstacle was never a lack of love–it was living in two different worlds. The singer-actor embraced the spotlight, while Affleck preferred life away from it.

For now, Bennifer appears to have found the ending that eluded them twice: not another romance, but a friendship that finally fits.
