Martha Stewart rang in her 85th year with a dramatic new look, ditching her signature blonde bob for a soft rose gold pink.

The lifestyle icon debuted the transformation in a joint Instagram post on August 9 with celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, who captioned the reveal, "Welcome to the rose gold era."

The clip opens with Stewart lip-syncing Meryl Streep's line from The Devil Wears Prada 2, "Pull yourself together, we have work to do, and by we, I mean you", before cutting to Appleton styling her newly coloured hair.

According to a press release from Schwarzkopf Professional, Appleton achieved the look using a temporary rose gold gloss, first lightening Stewart's hair with a premium bleaching treatment before applying an all-over tint to create the soft, glossy pink finish.

The change marks Stewart's most dramatic hair transformation with Appleton yet, the two previously collaborated in January on a "mocha mousse" colour and in February on a honey-blonde updo.

Reaction online was largely enthusiastic, with several fans praising how the shade complemented her complexion, though a few questioned whether they were looking at a wig rather than a genuine dye job.
