Pillion riding outlawed for 24 hours in Lahore
LAHORE: In order to ensure foolproof security during the observance of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) Chehlum on December 24, the Punjab government has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Lahore for 24 hours, Geo News reported.

The ban takes effect from 12:00 AM (December 24, 2013).

According to the directives, women, children, and elderly will be exempt from the ban.

The police will be responsible for arresting violators, who could be kept in custody for 72 hours.

As per the security plan for the holy month announced earlier, thousands of policemen will perform security duty at the Chehlum processions in the city.

Meanwhile, a similar ban has also been imposed in Bahawalpur.
