Lauren London set to play Snoop Dogg's mother in biopic

Lauren London is set to portray Snoop Dogg's mother, Beverly Tate, in Snoop, Universal Pictures' upcoming biopic chronicling the rapper's rise to fame. 

Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss will play Snoop himself, with Myles Bullock cast as Dr. Dre. 

The film is directed by Craig Brewer, working from his rewrite of Joe Robert Cole's original script, and is set for theatrical release on August 6, 2027.

Tate, also known as Beverly Broadus-Green, was a church choir director whose influence on her son, born Calvin Broadus, extended even to the origins of his stage name, she's credited with inspiring the "Snoop" nickname. 

Snoop Dogg himself is producing alongside Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker, with Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum also producing. 

The film marks the first project under Death Row Pictures' overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment and will incorporate music from Snoop's extensive catalog.

London, an actress, activist and entrepreneur from Los Angeles, has built a career spanning film credits including You People, Without Remorse, ATL and Games People Play. 

Beyond acting, she's known as a mental health advocate and has partnered with brands including Puma, DIFF Eyewear and The Marathon Clothing.
