J. Cole's tour takes tragic turn after crew member's death

J. Cole has canceled his Sacramento concert after a member of his touring crew was killed in a truck accident just hours before the rapper was due to take the stage.

The rapper, 41, was scheduled to perform as part of his The Fall-Off World Tour. The venue announced the cancellation following the fatal crash.

“Following the tragic passing of a member of the touring crew in a trucking accident this morning, J. Cole’s show scheduled for tonight, August 27, at Golden 1 Center has been canceled,” a spokesperson for the arena said.

“Our thoughts are with the crew member’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement continued.

The crash happened shortly after 6 am on interstate 5 in Yolo County, northwest of Woodland, according to KCRA. The overturned big rig was carrying equipment for Cole’s tour.

The Yolo County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Jarlath Parkinson, 66, of South Carolina, according to the Sacramento Bee. Authorities said the truck drifted onto the shoulder before the driver lost control while attempting to return to the highway.

“It’s unknown at this time, may have been a distraction or fell asleep. Unfortunately, the solo occupant did not survive the crash,” California Highway Patrol Sgt. David Barker said.

Cole’s tour is scheduled to continue Saturday in Oakland, followed by shows in Los Angeles and Inglewood next week.
