Prince Harry lawyers hit back after Ravec skips dangerous risk in security

Prince Harry had personally reached out to UK Home Office Secretary Shabana Mahmood this month asking her to take a personal role in his family’s security.

The letter was sent this month, ahead of the family’s return to the UK after six years. The Duke of Sussex’s legal team also had made a serious allegation against the head of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) on skipping key detail about his security risk.

Harry, apart from being the younger son of the monarch, was also a soldier in the British army and served on two tours. He revealed that he had received a threat from al Qaida in 2023 and that information was not passed to his security staff and neither the authorities in the United States.

The Sunday Times cited the letter in which the legal team alleged that the head of Ravec was aware of a threat made by al Qaida, but did not pass this information to relevant authorities.

There is no official decision made on what the security arrangements will be for the family, who have decided to stay in Cotswold neighbourhood. There is ongoing debate about taxpayers having to fund the security.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Andy Burnham said that the funding of security wa a “private matter”.
