Demi Lovato bids heartfelt farewell to Dolly Parton

Demi Lovato turned a live rendition of Ghost into a heartfelt farewell to Dolly Parton.

During her Friday night, August 28, performance at Ovation Hall in Ocean Casino Resort, Atlantic City, the Heart Attack singer dedicated the deeply personal song to the country music legend, who died at the age of 80.

Fan-shot footage from the concert, which took place just three days after Parton’s death, captures the Camp Rock star performing the emotional track.

Notably, Ghost is centered on the pain of losing someone you love. In the wake of the Jolene hitmaker’s death, its lyrics took on an especially heartbreaking meaning.

For the unversed, Parton passed away on August 25 following a brief battle with cancer. Her family announced that she breathed her last at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, surrounded by loved ones.

Lovato, 34, is the latest in a growing list of artists across genres to pay tribute to Parton during their performances.

Kacey Musgraves recently performed Parton’s Here You Come Again and dedicated Rainbow to her, while Harry Styles honoured her during his Madison Square Garden residency by performing I Will Always Love You.

Other artists, including Chris Stapleton, Vince Gill, Rhonda Vincent, Morgan Myles, Kesha, Ariana Grande, Jack White and John Mayer, have also joined the outpouring of tributes.
