Marius Borg Høiby makes controversial royal appearance beside King Haralds coffin

Marius Borg Høiby has made a controversial appearance alongside Norway’s royal family as the late King Harald’s coffin was carried from the Royal Palace in Oslo to the Palace Chapel.

The 29-year-old joined King Haakon, Princess Märtha Louise, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus for the solemn ceremony.

King Harald's coffin was taken to the Palace Chapel ahead of a period when members of the public will be able to pay their respects.

Marius’s presence is likely to attract particular attention given his recent legal troubles.

The son of Queen Mette-Marit is currently under house arrest after being convicted of several offences in June, a ruling he is appealing.

His mother, Mette-Marit, was also present for the procession.

Despite the circumstances surrounding Marius, the family gathered for the deeply personal duty of accompanying King Harald on his final journey from the palace to the chapel.
