Lionel RIchie braves health scare, expeted to fly for home tomorrow

Lionel Richie is spending another unexpected night in the hospital — but fans may not have to worry for long.

The 77-year-old Grammy winner is undergoing cardiac tests in the ICU in St. Louis and is expected to fly home Wednesday, September 2, according to TMZ. 

Richie checked himself into the ICU as a precaution after performing at The Muny on August 29.

During the concert, Richie reportedly needed a chair while performing his final song, All Night Long, prompting concern among fans.

The singer is currently touring with Earth, Wind & Fire on his Sing a Song All Night Long tour. His next scheduled performance is September 26 in San Francisco.

The latest scare comes just over two months after Richie became unwell during a June 24 concert in St. Paul, Minn. He cut the show short after telling the audience he was feeling dizzy.

Richie still managed to turn the moment into a joke.

“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” he joked before sitting at a piano to perform Three Times a Lady, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune.

Doctors later advised him to “rest and return to full health,” leading to two postponed shows.

Richie returned to the stage on June 30 and joked about the scare.

“Had you worried there for a minute, huh?” he told the crowd.

“You have no idea what I have been through in the last 24 hours, listening to my friends tell me their advice on what I should be doing,” he added.

He later reassured fans on Instagram: “Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”
