RAWALPINDI: A district and sessions court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday sent the two main suspects in the Hina Javed murder case to jail on judicial remand.

Hina, a digital media executive, was found dead at her home in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area on August 20, with her body tied to a shower in the bathroom.

The suspects — the victim's husband, Faisal Asghar, and their domestic worker, Zeeshan — were produced before Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Qasim Javed after the completion of four days of physical remand.

During the hearing, police sought judicial remand for both suspects. The court accepted the request and ordered that they be sent to jail.

Police claimed that Asghar killed his wife with the assistance of Zeeshan.

Zeeshan has confessed to strangling Hina during a marital dispute between her and Asghar, according to police sources.

On August 29, the Rawalpindi court extended the physical remand of Asghar and Zeeshan by four days to facilitate further investigation into the murder.

According to the sources, Zeeshan told investigators that Hina tried to flee during the altercation, after which he and Asghar allegedly restrained her.

Police sources said Hina's father-in-law had alerted police, claiming that thieves had broken into the house. When police arrived, they found Hina's body tied to a shower in the bathroom.
