King Charles finally came face to face with Pakistan’s cricket stars after years of anticipation but it was another “King” who appeared to steal the monarch’s attention.
Speaking to Sky Sports after meeting the monarch, Babar said with a chuckle: “It felt really great meeting the real king today.”
The King welcomed the Pakistan national cricket team to Clarence House, where he spent time chatting with the players and team officials during the meeting.
Buckingham Palace later shared a photograph from the gathering, captioning it: “This afternoon, The King welcomed the Pakistan National Cricket Team to Clarence House.”
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi was also present, with the conversation ranging from cricket to Pakistan’s wider efforts to promote peace and security.
According to him, King Charles encouraged the players and praised the country's contribution to peace.
The monarch also discussed Pakistan’s efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region with the PCB chairman.
Naqvi later described his meeting with Charles as “very productive”.
King Charles was also presented with a cricket bat as a special gift from the team.
