Elliot Page's real feelings revealed after working with Christopher Nolan

Elliot page is looking ahead – and he’s ready.

The 39-year-old actor just wrapped a critically acclaimed turn in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and on the On Film… With Kevin McCarthy podcast, he opened up about what comes next.

When the host asked if he’s “getting a zillion calls after this movie,” Page laughed and kept it real: “No, Kevin, I’m not. So, if someone wants to call me … ”

The actor, who came out as trans in 2020, also joked about the response he’s gotten lately: “I know I get some pushback for being — Canadian? I don’t know what it’s about.” A full-circle moment with Nolan.

This isn’t Page’s first time working with Nolan, 56. The director also helmed Inception back in 2010, years before Page’s transition.

Page said he “had such a great time” on that set, but admitted: “I was also personally really uncomfortable.” This time around on The Odyssey was different.

“I don’t have to deal with that when I’m acting,” he said. “I feel like I could maybe do some of my best work now.” He reflected on past roles, including his breakout in 2007’s Juno, which he said felt “a bit more comfortable and embodied.”

But for much of his earlier on-camera work, he explained it felt like he was working “through a performance that I don’t even quite know I’m doing to get to a performance.”

The Odyssey gave him something new.

“Walking onto a Chris set this time, versus, in the ways of, like, it being cathartic… When I wrapped on The Odyssey, I had a moment,” he said, miming tears coming down his face.

“There was a full-circle moment.”[before]He summed it up simply:

“Knowing yourself more and embodying yourself more, weirdly, lets you let go more,” Page concluded. 

Page led the 2023 indie drama Close to You, and wrapped four seasons on The Umbrella Academy in 2024.

Now he’s back on the big screen in Nolan’s star-studded adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey.
