Gloria Steinem, one of the biggest names in the fight for women’s rights, has died at the age of 92.

Her organisation, Gloria’s Foundation, confirmed that she died peacefully at her home in New York, surrounded by people who loved her.

The foundation added that Gloria kept fighting for equality until the very end as it also remembered how she made people feel heard and understood.

“Gloria's greatest gift was her ability to listen to others, to make others feel seen and heard.”

In her final years, the late activist spent time writing and bringing people together at her home. She, however, held Talking Circles and welcomed hundreds of people into her living room.

Fans are heartbroken after hearing the news as many people praised Gloria for inspiring women to speak up, know their worth and use their voices.

Meghan Markle, moreover, was also a close friend of Gloria. The two became close after The the Duchess of Sussex moved to the US in 2020.

Gloria once called Meghan “smart, authentic, funny, political.”

Born in 1934, she became one of the most important voices of second wave feminism as she spent her life fighting for women’s rights, civil rights and equality.
