Nepra hikes power tariff by Rs2.58 per unit
July fuel cost adjustment to impose Rs33bn additional burden on consumers

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Friday increased electricity tariffs for consumers nationwide by Rs2.58 per unit through monthly and quarterly fuel cost adjustments.
In a notification, the Nepra said that under the monthly fuel cost adjustment, electricity has been increased by Rs2.06 per unit.
The July fuel price adjustment will place an additional burden of Rs33 billion on consumers.
Separately, the power regulator forwarded its decision on the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026 to the federal government.
The quarterly adjustment, set at Re0.52 per unit, will apply from September to November 2026, according to the decision.
The quarterly adjustment will also apply to K-Electric consumers, Nepra added.
The decision will impose an additional burden of Rs12.67 billion on consumers, according to the regulator.
XWDISCOs, except lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) and pre-paid electricity consumers of all categories who opted for pre-paid tariff, read the notificaion.
It added that XWDISCOs and KE shall reflect the FCA in respect of July 2026 in the billing month of September 2026.
Last month, the power regulator had increased the electricity tariff by Rs0.75 per unit across the country under the monthly fuel cost adjustment, citing a variation in fuel charges for June 2026.
