Linda Cardellini chokes up during emotional Emmys speech

After more than three decades in the spotlight, Linda Cardellini finally had her Emmy moment.

At the 78th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, she won the best supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie award for her performance in DTF St. Louis.

The DTF St. Louis star struggled to hold back tears as she accepted her first-ever Emmy on Sunday, September 6 during the ceremony held at Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

Overcome with emotions, she thanked her family, friends, her co-stars, creator Steve Conrad, the producers and her team following her new achievement.

“I’m sorry, it’s a little embarrassing, but this has just been an unbelievable journey,” the Freaks and Geeks alum said through tears. “And thank you to the Academy and thank you to everyone along this way, all these years, who’ve helped me get to this moment. It’s a real dream come true.”

For the unversed, Cardellini, 51, was nominated alongside Dakota Fanning from All Her Fault, Laurie Metcalf from Monster: The Ed Gein Story, Joy Sunday from DTF St. Louis, Youn Yuh-jung from Beef and Constance Zimmer from Love Story.

Notably, Cardellini had previously been nominated in 2013 for her guest performance in Mad Men, and twice in 2020 for Dead to Me.
