Jessie J is stepping away from the spotlight as she prepares for her second cancer reconstruction surgery.

The 38-year-old singer, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024 and announced she was cancer-free earlier this year, revealed her plans in an emotional Instagram post on Monday, September 7.

“I want to start this post off by saying I am ok. I am not at my best but very far from my worst. I know people can twist these kinds of posts,” she began.

The Bang Bang singer reflected on everything she has experienced recently, from releasing her first album in eight years and moving from the US to the UK to touring, raising her 3-year-old son Sky and going through a breakup with Chanan Safir Colman.

“It’s no secret that the last 2 years have been magical, successful, life changing and extremely busy,” she said.

Although she “loved the last 2 years mostly,” Jessie explained that the pace had “taken a toll” and that she now wants to focus on herself and her son.

Therefore, she decided to step away from the digital world “to finally have my second cancer reconstruction surgery, to recharge, heal, to rest, to process, to love on myself and my boy, to water the next chapter of my life and most importantly be present and really live.”

Jessie ended her post by thanking fans for supporting her journey and promising to return when she feels ready.
