Pakistan received $3.66 billion in workers’ remittances in August 2026, registering a 16.5% increase year-on-year, data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed on Wednesday.

August remittances also increased 0.7% month-on-month, according to the figures shared by the adviser.

SBP data showed that Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in August, contributing $873 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates with $750 million, the United Kingdom with $564 million, and the United States with $309 million.

Schehzad said the latest inflows build on the record $41.6 billion in remittances received by Pakistan during FY26.

He said sustained remittance flows remain an important pillar of the country’s external account, supporting household incomes, foreign exchange liquidity, reserves and overall external-sector resilience.
