Dolly Parton's voice lives on with first posthumous song ‘Bound to Ride'

Dolly Parton’s music legacy lives on as her voice returns in a new song following her death.

The Queen of Country’s first posthumous song, titled Bound to Ride, has been released two weeks after she passed away.

The late country music legend contributed to Where the Soul Never Dies: Celebrating 80 Years of The Stanley Brothers, a tribute album for The Stanley Brothers.

Notably, the bluegrass duo was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year.

The album, which includes the Jolene hitmaker’s recording of Bound to Ride, is set for release next month.

Parton, who breathed her last at the age of 80 on August 25, recorded the traditional song in 2022 for the album’s upcoming release. The Stanley Brothers popularized the track with a 1964 recording.

Most of the songs recorded for the album were performed live in the studio. However, after a spike in COVID cases that year, the 9 to 5 singer recorded her vocals ahead of time, Rolling Stone reported.

Parton died after a “brief battle with cancer,” reps for the 80-year-old legend confirmed to People.

“Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched. Her unmatched generosity reached the lives of countless people whom she would never meet, yet she was always there to offer a helping hand,” the statement read.

She died at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and was surrounded by loved ones, her reps said.
