Jennifer Lawrence may be new to Instagram, but she wasted no time bringing Emma Stone into her social media era
The Oscar-winning actress had a cheeky response after a social media user asked, “Does anyone know who this woman is?”
Rather than giving a conventional introduction, The Hunger Games star used the opportunity to poke fun at her own awards résumé all while mentioning her longtime friend and fellow Oscar winner Stone, 37, into the joke.
“A woman with one less Oscar than Emma Stone,” Lawrence, 36, replied.
The playful line is a nod to the pair’s long-running friendship and their joking “rivalry” over the years.
The X-Men actress won her Best Actress Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook in 2013, while The Amazing Spider-Man star has two acting Oscars, for La La Land and Poor Things.
The humorous exchange comes just days after Lawrence finally made her long-awaited Instagram debut.
She joined the social media platform under the handle @jlaw and, fittingly, did not ease into the platform with a polished celebrity announcement.
Instead, her very first video came with a warning for her new followers: be nice, or she could leave.
She doubled down on the message in her Instagram Stories, joking that mean or aggressive comments could negatively affect “the baby” — before clarifying that she was, in fact, referring to herself as the baby.
After staying away from having a public social media presence for years, Lawrence's arrival on Instagram generated immediate attention, with her account quickly attracting millions of followers.
