Indian officials have become the subject of online mockery after videos showed them eating nuts during speeches by foreign leaders at the Brics summit.
A widely shared clip shows Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal repeatedly reaching for a box of nuts while Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was delivering his speech.
Jaiswal is seen taking several servings from the box and licking his fingers before reaching for more, with the footage quickly spreading across social media.
The repeated snacking prompted users on X to poke fun at Jaiswal, with reactions focusing on his repeated trips to the snack box and his table manners.
A separate video has also surfaced showing Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval eating dry fruits while Russian President Vladimir Putin was speaking at the summit.
The two clips have turned otherwise formal proceedings at the Brics gathering into a source of online jokes and criticism directed at the Indian officials.
The 18th Brics Summit was held in New Delhi on September 12-13, bringing together leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
