Tyler Perry reveals plans to move to Puerto Rico, backing from Hollywood

Tyler Perry is opening up about a major life shift, revealing plans to relocate to Puerto Rico and pull back significantly from his demanding Hollywood schedule. 

Speaking with Justin Sylvester on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, Perry discussed the decision as part of a broader conversation about revisiting his Why Did I Get Married Again? franchise for a third installment, and reflected candidly on how making the film prompted him to examine his own life and relationship history.

Perry also spoke about going to therapy for the first time at age 54, describing how that process has shaped his current perspective on love, "I think there is only one kind of love, and that's real. If it's real, it's enough." 

He joked that revisiting the complicated relationships depicted in his own Why Did I Get Married franchise had, in a strange way, made him wary of marriage himself.

Perry has built one of the most prolific and successful careers in modern Hollywood, founded on decades of stage plays, films and television production centered at his sprawling Atlanta studio. 

His decision to scale back and relocate marks a significant personal pivot for the 56-year-old filmmaker, though he did not offer a specific timeline for the move or provide further detail on what his reduced involvement in the industry might look like going forward.
