Prince William reveals surprisingly cosy bedtime habit he shares with Kate

Prince William and Kate's beloved dog Orla has a special place in their family routine.

The Prince of Wales previously revealed an unexpectedly cosy detail about life behind the doors of Adelaide Cottage, admitting that Orla, the couple’s black Cocker Spaniel, is allowed to sleep in their bed.

William made the revelation during a visit to Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Cornwall in 2024, where he struck up a conversation with Louise Harland, who was accompanied by her own dog, Jacks.

William showed a keen interest in the small dog and asking about his unusual Cockerjack breed.

Louise later recalled the exchange during an interview with Hits Radio Cornwall, revealing that the Prince told her that Orla sleeps on the bed with him and Kate at night.

“He said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate,” she said.

William apparently took an instant liking to Jacks, asking about his breed and commenting on his unusually soft ears.

Louise said the royal was “absolutely in love” with her pet and “gave him lots of loving” during their meeting.

Are there benefits to sleeping with your dog?

Estimates suggest that around 56 per cent of pet owners allow their dogs or cats to sleep alongside them.

Research has also pointed to potential emotional benefits for some owners.

Having a pet nearby can provide a sense of comfort and security, while the companionship of a dog may help ease feelings of anxiety and stress.
