GCU's Faizan completes 1,100km run from Lahore to Skardu in 22 days

Faizan Ahmed Faiz, a Government College University (GCU) Lahore student, has completed a gruelling 1,100-kilometre run from Lahore to Skardu in 22 days, crossing plains and some of Pakistan’s toughest mountain terrain.

Faizan Ahmed, a member of the Falcon Triathlon Club (FTC), completed the demanding journey in Skardu on Thursday, September 17, after covering some of Pakistan’s most challenging terrain on foot.

The run began in Lahore and took Faizan across the plains of Punjab before leading him into the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

His route passed through Gujranwala, Jhelum, Rawalpindi and Islamabad before continuing towards Abbottabad, Naran, Babusar Top, Chilas and Raikot, and finally reaching Skardu.

Over the 22-day challenge, Faizan covered hundreds of kilometres on foot, tackling long-distance stages, steep climbs, difficult terrain and changing weather conditions.

The endurance run also carried a wider social message. Faizan dedicated the journey to the Armed Forces of Pakistan and police martyrs, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the service of the country.

He also used the challenge to raise awareness about drug abuse, particularly among young people.

Through his journey, Faizan highlighted the dangers associated with drug use and encouraged young people to adopt healthier and more constructive activities.

He also interacted with communities along the route, using endurance sport as a platform to promote awareness and a message of social responsibility.

The 1,100km challenge adds to Faizan’s involvement in endurance sports and demonstrates the demanding physical challenge of running across diverse terrain from Lahore to Skardu.

After 22 days on the road, his journey came to an end in Skardu on Thursday, completing a challenge that began in Lahore.
