Christine Taylor shared a surprising detail about the money she made when she was a young actress on Hey Dude.
Taylor played Melody Hanson on the Nickelodeon show, which ran from 1989 to 1991.
The show was about a group of workers and guests at a dude ranch.
While talking about her early acting days on the We’re Still Here, Babe podcast, Taylor remembered a talk she had with some of her former castmates.
They all seemed to remember making $5,000 for each episode during the final season.
Taylor said that was not what she remembered.
“We were making $3,500 an episode,” she said.
She explained that the cast got a $500 increase every season and everyone was paid the same amount.
“I did not make $5,000 on something for many, many years,” Taylor said.
Even though the pay was not huge, Taylor said she was careful with the money and saved it.
That money later helped her move to Los Angeles, along with help from her family.
Life there was not easy at first as Taylor shared that she had to use a laundromat, watch what she ate and be careful with her spending.
Her career later grew with roles in The Brady Bunch Movie, The Wedding Singer, Zoolander and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.
