Miley Cyrus has sparked mixed reactions online after news of a reported free-ticket surprise for dedicated album buyers began circulating.
The alleged gesture, involving tickets to her upcoming Hollywood Bowl shows has prompted some fans to call it a sweet way of giving back, while others are questioning whether it could be a “redemption move” after her certain statement regarding fans.
A screenshot circulating on social media appears to show an email telling selected customers who purchased Bass Persuades through the artist's webstore that they had been randomly chosen as “top supporters” to receive a pair of non-transferable tickets to the October 16 Hollywood Bowl show.
If authentic, the gesture would give some dedicated album buyers a chance to see the former Nickelodeon star's long-awaited return to the stage without paying for tickets.
There is, however, an important caveat, the reported email campaign has not been publicly confirmed by the Hannah Montanna famed actress and singer's verified social accounts, official website, Ticketmaster or the Hollywood Bowl.
No major music or entertainment outlet has independently verified the screenshot either. So, for now, the claim remains an unconfirmed social-media report rather than an officially announced giveaway.
Still, the possibility has sparked a surprisingly lively conversation among fans.
Some fans immediately saw the reported gesture positively, describing it as a thoughtful way for her to reward people who supported the album.
“That's so sweet of Miley!” one fan wrote, while another praised the singer for showing appreciation to her supporters.
However, not everyone interpreted it that way.
Some social-media users speculated that giving away tickets could indicate difficulty filling the Hollywood Bowl, with comments suggesting the Flowers hitmaker might be trying to boost attendance.
One social media user wrote, “oh she knew the tickets arent going to get sold out[crying emoji] oh transley…”
Another pointed out, writing, “Saying she doesn’t care about her fans is crazy.”
A third emphasised, “or maybe she realized her fans are disappointed with what she said in that interview and a lot of them won't be buying her album.”
A fourth noted, “Oh nice, here’s some scraps. She clearly stated she does not care about her fans, only about her own personal comfort. So disappointed in her.”
For the unversed, in an Apple Music conversation with Zane Lowe, Miley discussed the extraordinary demand surrounding the concerts.
“I’ve learned now through the queue that my calculations are correct and people will come to me,” she said. “I don’t need to drive to you.”
She likes the idea for another very personal reason. “So this is perfect because people like to see me perform and I like to sleep in my marshmallow bed so we can both be happy,” she joked.
Someone fans took her "I don't need to drive to you" comments in a negative way which now makes the circulating giveaway claim particularly intriguing to fans.
