Carrot Top's hospitalistaion news followed with major heartbreak

Carrot Top’s Las Vegas stage has gone dark for the weekend as the comedian remains hospitalised.

The 61-year-old comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was hospitalised in Las Vegas, with his Friday and Saturday performances at Luxor Las Vegas canceled.

Fox News confirmed the hospitalization, while TMZ reported that Thompson was hospitalised following an attempted suicide.

His representative shared an update on his condition, saying, “Mr Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs.”

“His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,” the representative added.

MGM Resorts also addressed the situation, with a spokesperson saying, “Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering. We are thinking of him and wish him strength as he receives the care and support he needs.”

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Thompson was seen at a bar around 2 p.m. Friday, just hours before his scheduled 8 p.m. show.

For now, tickets for next week’s performances remain on sale, although it is unclear whether his hospitalisation will affect those dates. 

Thompson has performed at Luxor since 2005, with his current residency contract running through 2030.

Known for his signature red hair and prop-heavy comedy, Carrot Top has made Las Vegas his longtime comedy home.
