King Charles aides intervene before monarch launches attack at Spencer

Charles Spencer seem to be testing the patience of his ex-brother-in-law after rehashing stories from the past with details that the public had never heard before.

The Earl of Spencer’s forthcoming book, which is a dedication to the late Princess Diana, delves deeper into the incidents surrounding her tragic death in 1997 and the events that followed. Prince Harry and Prince William’s uncle also shares the heated debates that surrounded the young boys at the time.

The revelations are explosive and they reportedly left the King so furious that he was compelled to issue statement. However, sources insist that matters were actually much worse and Charles’s team had to intervene to share a ‘toned down’ version.

“The fact that he made a statement shows just how enraged he is,” the insider revealed to Woman’s Day. “Everyone told him not to dignify this with a response but that just wasn’t an option, he had to speak out.”

Buckingham Palace had noted that while they “do not comment on books as a matter of principle”, the monarch is “mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss”.

The sources added that Charles “actually held himself back” because he had a “lot more” to say in order to defend himself. His advisors “intervened and convinced him to tone it down”.

“Even with this less aggressive response there’s a huge worry that the King may have just invited more horrible accusations from Earl Spencer,” they continued, noting that the King is is prepared to “keep fighting”.

Though many believe that this could be a “lose-lose scenario”.
