Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber ‘saddened beyond words' after Presley's death

Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber were never the kind of Hollywood parents who remained uninvolved in their children’s lives.

They stood by their only son, Presley Gerber, through his years of struggles, making his death at the young age of 27 all the more devastating.

The model passed away on Sunday, September 20, at a rehabilitation facility, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. An autopsy has been completed, but his cause of death has been deferred.

As the family continues to mourn, a source close to Presley’s sister, Kaia Gerber, shared that the loved ones are “in total shock” and “saddened beyond words.”

Another source close to Crawford has emphasized something particularly poignant about Presley’s years-long struggles: his parents were never absent from his life.

“This was never a situation involving two absent Hollywood parents,” the source tells People. “Cindy and Rande could not have been more supportive of Presley. They were always there for him and did everything they could to help him.”

The source adds that the family has always been extremely close and that Presley was “deeply loved.”

“That is what makes this so heartbreaking,” the source adds. “His family never stopped supporting him, loving him and hoping that he would be okay.”

In June, Presley appeared at a mental-health-focused event in Malibu, where he spoke openly about his own experiences and the importance of vulnerability. Cindy and Rande were there to support their son.
