Royal family bid farewell to the much-loved Princess in an emotional message, sparking reactions from fans.
On September 23, the Royal Palace released a black-and-white photo of King Harald V with his sister, Princess Astrid.
For the unversed, Norway's King Harald V died at age 89 on August 28, 2026. His older sister, Princess Astrid, died just two weeks later on September 11, 2026, at age 94.
Now, the Norwegian royal family shared in a statement, "Princess Astrid will be laid to rest today.
"Throughout a long life she supported the Royal House and worked under four kings: King Haakon VII, her father King Olav V, her brother King Harald V and, until the end, His Majesty King Haakon VII.
"In recognition of her great efforts and warm loyalty, Princess Astrid was granted an honorary pension by the government on her 70th birthday in 2002."
Fans conveyed heartfelt condolences to the mourning family in the comments section.
