Rob Lowe gets nostalgic about his early Hollywood years: 'Incredible time'

Rob Lowe is taking a look back at his 1980s era and recalling the time he describes as one of the most exciting chapters of his lie.

While promoting his latest film, The Musical, during the recent episode of Chicks in the Office, Lowe talked about his career, personal life and the freedom he experienced before marriage and family life.

Although he married Sheryl Berkoff in 1991, Lowe said the 1980s were a special time when he was single and building his career.

“It was just an incredible time,” said the actor. 

“It was an incredible time to be in the business. It was an incredible time to make movies. It was an incredible time to party. It was an incredible time to be single. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

He added, “In the totality of humanity, if I could have lived in any time, that would have been it.”

When host Maria “Ria” Ciuffo said she wished she could have experienced the decade, Lowe replied, “It’s better than you dream.”

The actor particularly misses the lack of technology, saying, “No social media. No cell phone cameras.”

He recalled making plans without knowing whether friends would actually arrive, adding, “The intrigue of it was beautiful.”

Lowe, who starred in The Outsiders and St. Elmo’s Fire, also believes fame has become a “burden” for young stars.

Now a father of two, Lowe previously said, “Up until I turned 26, I spent all my time investing in my career. 

From 26 on, I’ve invested in me; my spirituality, my recovery, my marriage, my family.”
