Margot Robbie confirms she took husband Tom Ackerly's last name

Margot Robbie is one of the most recognised names in the entertainment world, but the actress appears to be going by a different name in official documents.

According to multiple reports, the Barbie star has adopted her husband Tom Ackerley’s last name ever since tying the knot in 2016. While speculation about the name change has persisted for nearly a decade, new business documents published by Companies House for their production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, appear to have confirmed it. The actress is listed as “Margot Elise Ackerley” and is serving as the company’s director.

Robbie, 36, has continued using her maiden name for movies. She was credited as “Margot Robbie” for her latest project Sterling Point, the coming-of-age drama she co-produced through LuckyChap Entertainment, which premiered August 5.

LuckyChap Entertainment was co-founded by the couple shortly after they began dating in 2014. The couple first met a year prior while working on Suite Française.

Robbie and Ackerley married in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia, in December 2016. They welcomed their son in October 2024 and have continued working together on projects including Barbie, I, Tonya and Birds of Prey through LuckyChap.
