Carrot Top breaks silence amid hospitalistaion after suicide attempt

Carrot Top is back home with his family and “doing well” after being hospitalized following a reported suicide attempt.

A source close to the comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, confirmed to People magazine that he has been released from the hospital, about a week after the incident at his home on September 18.

According to police and his lawyers’ statements in court records reviewed by the outlet, Thompson was found near his backyard pool after calling a member of his team while distressed. 

He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

A representative had previously told the outlet that Thompson was “recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs.” 

It added, “His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”

In a later update, the representative said Thompson was “now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him.”

“Humor has always been such an important part of who Scott is and how he connects with people, and that remains true today as he shares moments of humor with the medical staff caring for him,” the statement continued.

The rep also said fans’ messages had been shared with Thompson, including stories from people who said his comedy helped them through difficult periods. 

“Hearing those stories and feeling that support has meant a great deal to him during his recovery.”

Thompson’s long-running Las Vegas residency at the Luxor, where he has performed since 2005, remains on hiatus. 

His September 18 show appeared to have been canceled on ticketing sites, including Ticketmaster.

“Scott and his family remain deeply grateful for the extraordinary kindness and continue to ask that his privacy be respected,” the representative said.
