'Spider-Man' fans rejoice after surprising new update

Spider-Man: Brand New Day may be heading back to theaters with a little extra for fans — including a scene featuring Rosario Dawson that didn’t make the original cut.

Sony Pictures is reportedly planning a theatrical rerelease with previously unseen footage, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. 

No release date has been announced, and it’s not yet clear what other material might be added.

Dawson revealed in July that she had filmed a scene as Claire Temple, the Marvel character she played in several Netflix series, but it was left on the cutting-room floor.

“My character is somewhere in that same universe, and I really love that,” Dawson said at a fan event. “I hope I get to be Claire again.”

The rerelease could also give the blockbuster another push toward a major box-office milestone. 

The film, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal, has reportedly earned more than $950 million domestically and $2.49 billion worldwide. 

It’s still playing in theaters, adding $4.1 million domestically over the most recent weekend.

The move follows the rerelease of Avengers: Endgame, which brought in $26 million domestically over the weekend and was timed to build excitement for Avengers: Doomsday, due December 18.
