Two Pakistani citizens were martyred and another was injured after Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel opened unprovoked fire near the Pakistan-India international border in Kasur, security sources said on Friday.

The three Pakistani citizens from Punjab's Ladhar village were targeted by the BSF without warning after they moved only a few steps ahead of a border pillar, the sources said.

“All three citizens were unarmed,” the sources added.

According to the sources, the martyred were identified as Azmat Rasool Shah and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar.

The sources said none of the three individuals had attempted to cross the border fence. They described the firing as unprovoked and said the incident constituted an open violation of the border agreement and established standard operating procedures (SOPs).

According to the sources, Indian media also described the civilians as infiltrators, which they said reflected a pattern of portraying such incidents as false-flag operations.

The Indian forces’ action comes just a day after the Pakistani military exposed India’s false-flag operation, in which it had claimed to have killed a former Pakistani soldier during a staged encounter in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

To prove that the retired Special Services Group commando was innocent, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry presented Havildar Muhammad Asif before the media, who himself narrated that he was alive and residing in Pakistan.
