Fans spot subtle Drake reference in Bruno Mars' message for Karol G

Bruno Mars has nothing but love and gratitude for Karol G, but his sweet message to the Colombian superstar has fans spotting a subtle Drake reference.

After the Still singer went from performing in her own Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour to starring as Mars’ leading lady in his Dance With Me music video, the latter took a moment to publicly thank her for making time for the project.

Sharing a snippet from the newly released music video, the Die With a Smile hitmaker penned, “Right after performing 3 sold out stadium shows, back-to-back with no days off, and shooting her own music video, she was gracious enough to be the star in mine,” praising Karol G, whose full name is Carolina Giraldo Navarro, for stepping in despite an already packed schedule.

“Thank you @Karolg,” he added. However, the message quickly became much more than a simple thank-you.

The Talking to the Moon singer went on to describe watching Karol work as “so inspiring,” highlighting her dedication to her fans and the passion she brings to everything she does.

“I’m honored to say we made music together, performed together and now starred in a high drama telenovela together [loved up emoji],” he wrote. Interestingly, some netizens took the high drama telenovel as a subtle nod to Drake amid the ongoing playful love triangle drama.

“The world needs your light and your voice Carolina. Thank you for being my Juliet in this music video,” Mars, 40, continued. “This is a special song to me and I hope this video inspires someone to love with everything they’ve got!”

“Fellas this is your cue to grab your lady and dance with her,” he added before concluding. “ Sincerely, The Romantic [rose emoji] #dancewithme”

With Karol G already having a long-running pop-culture connection to Drake in the eyes of fans, Mar's sudden appearance as her romantic leading man in a dramatic music video gives the whole situation the playful feel of an unexpected celebrity love triangle.
