Widow gangraped on panchayat’s order in Daira Din Panah

MUZAFFARGARH: A widow was gangraped at the orders of a panchayat (elders court) in Daira Din Panah, a small town located between Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan.

The panchayat had ruled that the widow be punished for an lleged affair between her brother and the daughter of one of the accused. Following which,the widow was raped by the girl’s father and two brothers.

Upon receiving information of this horrific incident, police arrested six individuals including the head of the panchayat. Several other members of the panchayat managed to flee.

Police have started a search operation for the accused and cases have been lodged against them.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident.
