MELBOURNE: The women's Twenty20 competition will begin at the same time in Bangladesh with the Southern Stars beginning the tournament with a match against New Zealand in Sylhet.
Meg Lanning will continue as Australia's Twenty20 captain while former skipper Jodie Fields is given the opportunity to recover from injury.
Chief selector Julie Savage said Lanning will take charge of an experienced squad while vice-captain Fields concentrates on her own game after recovering from injury and illness.
"We believe the best outcome for Jodie and the team is for her to concentrate solely on her recovery and getting back to the best possible form with the bat and the gloves," Savage said.
"As a young captain, Meg performed extremely well in the recent Women’s Ashes series and is well placed to continue in the role."
Australian women's T20 squad: Meg Lanning (captain), Jodie Fields (vice-captain), Alex Blackwell, Nicole Bolton, Jess Cameron, Sarah Coyte, Rene Farrell, Holly Ferling, Alyssa Healy, Julie Hunter, Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Erin Osborne, Ellyse Perry, Elyse Villani.
