Taliban shura likely to announce ceasefire in 24 hours

PESHAWAR: The Taliban political shura has decided in principle to hold a ceasefire and the announcement in this regard is expected in the next 24 hours, Geo News reported.

According to sources, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) political shura held a meting on Sunday to deliberate on the government’s demand for the ceasefire.

In the meeting, sources said, the Taliban shura agreed to observe a ceasefire, which is expected to be declared within the next 24 hours.

The sources further said that the TTP Shura has demanded withdrawal of army from North Waziristan besides release of their non-combatant companions.
