ISLAMABAD: The District Magistrate on Friday issued two separate orders, which prohibit the owners/dealers/hoteliers from renting out property/rooms to anyone without informing the police.

District Magistrate Mujahid Sherdil issued these orders in exercise of powers under Section 144 Cr.PC 1898.

The order takes immediate effect and will remain in force for a period of two months.

As per one of the orders, District Magistrate has prohibited renting out any kind of property to any person by a property dealer/broker/owner without informing concerned police station regarding the particulars of tenants.

Provision of phone numbers and CNICs number of tenants to police stations will be mandatory and all particulars would be provided on the prescribed pro forma devised by the SSP (Operations) Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan.

Similarly, another order issued by District Magistrate prohibits the owners/managers of hotels/motels/guesthouses/inns to let a room or lodging to a person as a guest without providing information to the concerned police station in which the establishment is situated.

The particulars of any guest including his CNIC and phone numbers would have to be mentioned on pro forma devised by SSP (Operations) Islamabad.

These Orders have been issued on the suspicion that miscreants tend to be involved in terrorist activities within the jurisdiction of the Federal Capital by hiding in houses places taken on rent or in hotels guest houses hostels as guests.

In order to discourage the insurgents from trying to find hideouts within the city, it is necessary to verify the particulars of person occupying commercial/non-commercial properties on rent through estate agents/owners on regular basis the Order said. (APP)
